EQU R402 – Access control reader

The EQU-R402 reader is designed for access control systems with the highest security requirements. It provides full encryption of data transmission with both the controller and the card, and thanks to advanced cryptographic security measures, it guarantees resistance to eavesdropping, cloning, and device tampering. Also available in a version with a keypad for entering a PIN code.

Key Features

Bidirectional, fully encrypted data transmission (OSDP-SC).
Support for Mifare DESFire EV3 cards secured at the EAL5+ level.
Advanced anti-eavesdropping and anti-cloning mechanisms (AES-128 with site-specific keys).
Robust, multi-layer IP65 construction resistant to impacts, scratches, and UV radiation.
Front without mechanical elements; touch buttons that also work while wearing gloves.
Version with Wiegand or RS485/OSDP interface.
Multiple LED backlight colors controlled from the controller.
Option to order the housing in any color.

Transmission Security

Each reader has a unique identifier registered during the access point configuration. During this process, individual encryption keys for the site are uploaded, and an RS485 address is assigned. Any attempt to replace the reader without this procedure will immediately trigger an alarm, and the device will reject all cards.

Controller–reader transmission is implemented using the OSDP-SC standard, with AES-128 encryption and a partial key exchange after every session. This protects the system against eavesdropping and replay attacks by unauthorized devices.

Security between reader and card

The EQU-R402 reader supports Mifare DESFire EV3 cards, which are compliant with ISO/IEC 14443A and certified at the EAL5+ level. Data transmitted between the reader and the card is protected by a hardware-based AES-128 cryptographic engine.

Authentication is performed in three stages in accordance with ISO/IEC 7816-4. Additional security features include:

  • card proximity control (protection against transmission hijacking),
  • verification of NXP chip authenticity,
  • transaction MAC at the card application level,
  • full transmission compliant with ISO/IEC 14443-4,
  • default card lock to prevent use in other systems.

The reader is also backwards compatible and can operate with Mifare Classic, DESFire D40, EV1, and EV2 cards.

Durable construction

The reader housing (75 × 112.5 × 20 mm) is made of a PET-G composite with carbon fiber, ensuring high resistance to mechanical damage, atmospheric conditions, and UV radiation. The electronics are completely encapsulated in epoxy resin, which guarantees an IP65 rating and a hard, multi-layer structure of over 10 mm protecting the components.

The version with a keypad has a uniform front panel with backlit touch buttons. Each press is signaled by light and sound. The reader features a built-in buzzer and a tamper sensor.

Communication and power supply

As standard, the reader is equipped with a 4-core cable (power + RS485/OSDP).

A version with a Wiegand interface is also available – with a 10-core cable.

  • Power supply: 10–30 VDC
  • OSDP v2.2, RS485 (up to 1200 m with a dedicated cable)
  • Max. branch length: 5 m
  • Termination: 100 Ω
